Dear Virtual Physical

I recently underwent one of your virtual colonoscopies. While no one could ever describe any experience involving the colon as pleasant, I must say there was a tremendous difference between the virtual colonoscopy and the actual colonoscopy, which I had three years ago. The virtual procedure was no more than feeling a bit of pressure as air was inserted into my bowel. I remember looking at the size of the scope when I had my colonoscopy in the hospital and asking the doctor what he thought he was going to do with that! The next thing I remembered was waking up from the procedure and even though I didn't have any pain, I remember thinking how much damage that scope could have done to my bowel. For two days after the regular colonoscopy procedure I had rectal bleeding which scared me to death. My doctor said that was to be expected, but when it's your rectum that's bleeding it doesn't matter what they say. I decided that day I would never have that procedure again.

When I read about the virtual colonoscopy I decided to try it and just like your staff told me on the phone, it was as near a pleasant experience as could be expected. There was no scope to be afraid of. There was no sedation or anesthesia to be afraid of. Most importantly, there was no rectal bleeding following the procedure. The most I felt was like I had just eaten a big meal, which made me, feel full. Being able to watch the doctor navigate through my bowel was very eye opening and interesting for me. It made me more aware of what junk I put into my body. It all ends up in the bowel, which is really like a long tube of delicate folds. It shows me we really don't have iron stomachs like some people joke about. Take care of your body and it will take care of you. Fortunately for me, I had nothing wrong with my bowels. I will see you again in two years for another study. Thanks for all your help. Also please thank the techs for me, as they were very good and professional at all times.

Sincerely,
Glenn R.
